James Lavaughan Watts, age 82 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, August 13th, 2015 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born eight miles east of Marshall in the community of Rock Springs, Arkansas on October 24th, 1932 to Lomery and Cora (Cypert) Watts.
Von, as he was called by his friends was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He supported and fellowshipped with the Red Oak Freewill Baptist Church. Von worked for many years in the construction industry as a drywall installer. He liked to spend time at the coffee shop with the “boys.” Von also liked to help make deliveries for Watts Auto Supply and visit with folks he met on the way. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things; being outdoors, working around the farm and spending time with his family.
Von is preceded in death by his parents; brother, A.C. Watts; sister-in-law, Lorene Watts; and brother-in-law, Alva Bohannon.
Survivors include his daughter, Tonya Watson and husband Donald of Magnolia; granddaughters, Ashley Watson Davis and husband Ryan of Hot Springs and Alicia Watson of Magnolia; great granddaughter, London Davis of Hot Springs; two sisters, Neghagean Bohannon of Marshall and Evalene Ferguson and husband Harold of Marshall; nephews, John Allen Watts and wife Linda of Marshall and David Watts and wife Cindy, also of Marshall; and nieces, nephew, other family and friends who will also mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. David Watts officiating. Special music will be performed by Wesley Watts. Visitation will be 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Davis, Doug Morrison, Allen Watts, Daniel Owens, James Kyle and Jerry Passmore. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Red Oak Freewill Baptist Church, PO Box 562, Marshall, AR 72650.
